How Are Chelsea Able To Spend So Much Money?

  • Publisert 2 måneder siden

    HITC Sevens

    Runtime: 15:02

Whilst many football clubs face financial struggles and look to reign in their spending, Chelsea have gone on a spending spree, investing in excess of £200 million on the likes of Kai Havertz, Hakim Ziyech, and Timo Werner in the current transfer market.
Last week, I took a look at the finances at Liverpool, and why FSG and John Henry perhaps weren't splashing the cash as freely as many Reds fans would like.
So in today's mini documentary, HITC Sevens takes a look Chelsea's new signings, their financial outlook, and how Roman Abramovich intends plans to overcome the challenge of UEFA FFP regulations - as well as talking a little bit about the players themselves and how Frank Lampard's team are shaping up ahead of the 2020-21 Premier League season.

The reason is Chelsea owned by the Russian government. Abramovich is Putin's closest friend and aide. His connection means he can do anything with Chelsea. Technically, Chelsea is a Kremlin's club.

Chelsea are one of the only clubs that have been complying with FFP over the past 6 years! It’s because of that they can afford to spend a lot in this window. Us Chelsea fans knew that this was spree was coming. This hasn’t involved any input from Roman Abramovich. This video and analysis is lazy and inaccurate from ESPN. It’s simply good, shrewd business and running a top, elite football club in the way it should be run. Chelsea had a transfer ban last summer and sold multiple players to the value of over 150m. This sounds like a salty, envious report I’m afraid.

What complete garbage. Just a quick glance at Transfer League tells you Chelsea netted £152M in 19-20 from player sales. That has paid for Werner Ziyech and Havertz. Yokohama just gave Chelsea £40M to end the shirt deal but are still sponsoring the club (plus last seasons unspent £40M).

We don't spend, we have our players and owners are not Roman (No, they are not but Americans that are loaded) and so on...And the best players are: Mane, Firmino, Salah, Alison, van Dijk and everyone of them was bought by the Klopp in last few years! What the Fuc*? And now, before season, when he couldn't buy anybody he decide that is time to start crying and accusing other clubs how much they are spending?!? Poor Liverpool! The rest of teams have to send them few millions and saved them from bankruptcy🤑🤑🤑🤑 O yes, today against Leeds they get 2 penalties. They will be champions again because they are new big project from UEFA!

Excuse me but your video is INACCURATE to a great degree. You fail to discuss the Revenues from the sales of A.100 million pounds from Eden Hazard to Real, B. 50 million from Alvaro Morata to Atletico, C. 13,5 million from Pasalic (this you do mention) to Atalanta, D. 8 million David Luiz to Arsenal plus another 20 million from other players that I can't recall their names and destinations now. In Total, Chelsea F.C took around 195 million pounds FROM SALES ONLY and you have to add all the LOAN FEES from the Loan Army. It is not the Owner's Money in this case but rather the circumstances of the Transfer Ban and the Pandemic that allowed us all this Transfers (not that the Billions of the Oligarch Team Owner are irrelevant to be honest)

The over £1 billion that is owed to Abramovich is technically not the club but the parent company of Chelsea called Fordstam. This company is actually owned by Abramovich himself and that means he owes himself money. He could actually ask back for it any day and it has to be payed to him within 18 months from then. And if he eventually decides to sell the club eventually, he would actually be collecting on that debt along with the valuation of the company just like the time he purchased the club from Ken Bates in 2003.

So far I have my doubts about Frank Lampart being up to the challenge. He's still got to proof it and the only thing he did proof last season is just how much of a bad looser he can be during his outbreak episode with Klopp. In terms of how Chelsea's home grown talents fit it I think its save to say that at least Abraham is a great addition on the left wing to the new signings. Generally, with the kind of overweight on the attack compared to the lack of quality in goal I can see only one direction for Lampard to go win terms of strategy with this team and that is aiming for outscoring opponents rather then sitting back and preventing to concede. Its a risky strategy because it greatly depends on the daily form of the attacking players.

2 måneder siden
chelseacharger
chelseacharger

@Ulf Köhler I don't know why you keep going on about it as if Lampard is the only one who ever got annoyed. These things happen all the time with different managers and I like I said, it doesn't get noticed because there is too much crowd noise. Klopp was raging at the fourth official in todays match and his team wasn't even losing at the time. Is bawling at a guy who didn't even make the decision Klopp disagreed with 'immature'? Arsene Wenger had the reputation of being studious. He was even nicknamed 'The Professor'. That didn't stop him having rows with multiple opposition managers. Ferguson flipped out with rivals and officials. Rafa Benitez and his famous 'facts' rant in a press conference. Immature? Managers lose their cool. It happens with them all. It's no big deal. Get over it.

2 måneder siden
Ulf Köhler
Ulf Köhler

@chelseacharger Its not about how he said it. You can say something in a calm manner and still blow up. Also a couple of questions at this point: How long does Lampard work in professional football? how long does he know that this stuff happens all the time? How long does Lampard know how the media is reacting? Only saying it in the first place after the match is already evidence for my statement that he's a bad looser and I repeat, if Chelsea would have won that match against Liverpool,Lampard wouldn't even have bothered. These comments have no meaning or place after the referee has ended the match and if a Team Manager feels the need to even mention / complain about these apparently normal things after a lost match then the fact he's a bad looser is more than obvious and it also displays a certain immaturity for the position whether you like that fact or not doesn't really matter. I admit though, Lampard is not as bad as Mourinho (yet). I want to go even further and say that insisting on signing Havertz after these difficult negotiations for this massive amount of money is also a sign for the same attitude just because Lampard / Chelsea could not accept Leverkusens initial position of not wanting to let Havertz just yet for several good reasons despite Chelsea having a massive requirement for building a solid foundation in midfield and defence and actually needing the money to sort this out. Now they are in the position that Chelsea has to sell at least one player to avoid getting into trouble with UEFA for overspending like Manchester City did last season...and then there wasn't even the need for that transfere because they already signed Werner and Zyech for the attack in addition to already having pretty good home grown talents up front. This deal was based on pure greed and not being able to accept loosing out on a player who actually would still need one ore two years to fully mature. Chelsea would have been better off to spend the money on a central defending midfielder and a decent goalkeeper.

2 måneder siden
chelseacharger
chelseacharger

@Ulf Köhler But Lampard didn't blow up in days after. He was quite calm in his press conferences after the game. The media were the ones who made too much of it.

2 måneder siden
Ulf Köhler
Ulf Köhler

@chelseacharger Don't get hung up on that part of my comment, its just apart of the whole... The point is not about Lampards reaction during the match but the blow up show in the 3 days after. Klopp is 100% right when he says: "Once the referee blows the whistle to end the game it should be over. Everyone gets heated up during a match but after the match it should be in the past."... You can bet your inheritance that if Chelsea would have won that match against Liverpool, Lampard wouldn't have blown over like he did in the days after. That's where he's shown that he's a bad looser.

2 måneder siden
chelseacharger
chelseacharger

I wouldn't take too much notice of Lampard losing his cool at Anfield. He didn't row with Klopp. He got annoyed with one of the backroom staff who was shouting 'foul' for every little challenge. This kind of thing happens all the time at football stadiums. It only got any attention here because there was no crowd and everything said by the coaches gets heard by the press. Klopp is a passionate manager himself and we've all seen him get angry on the side-lines too. I don't mind seeing team bosses who show that passion and stand up for their team during the battle. They saluted each-other at the end and that's what counts. Chilwell and Thiago have been brought in to help strengthen the defence and a new keeper may be added soon. There are still some things to improve and I don't think we are quite good enough to challenge for the PL title yet. Of course, much depends on both Liverpool and Man City staying consistent too. History shows it is much harder to successfully defend a PL title than the first win. So I don't think Liverpool will reach last seasons points total but maybe still good enough. At the same time, Chelsea should do much better and close the gap but not quite enough. But you never know with so many new players. They may gel immediately as a team and exceed expectations. Who knows?
